CHILDREN SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMS
Connecting resources to need
Conflicts among ethnic groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo have resulted in tremendous poverty and trauma for the country’s children. In the Uvira region alone, thousands of orphaned children live in desperate conditions with no real hope for a future. In addition, lack of resources force many children to drop out of school, drawing them further into the circle of poverty.
The unavailability of health care and proper hygiene cause a variety of illnesses -some of which lead to long-term debilitation and even death. Malnutrition often leaves a huge deficit in physical as well as cognitive development. Exposure to war and tribal conflicts compound the issues for children who suffer from emotional trauma and are subjected to long-standing messages of violence and revenge.
Your support of $45 per month through our Child Sponsorship Program will help provide basic needs and other opportunities that will directly affect the future of a child. When you chose a boy or girl to sponsor, your contribution will provide :
-
Access to education (school fees and materials)
-
Shelter for protection and a sense of belonging
-
Food to eradicate malnutrition and assure proper development
-
Health care, medicine and the implementation of proper hygiene to provide healing and prevent illness
-
Exposure to messages of anti-tribalism, unity and reconciliation
-
Opportunities for nurturing and mentoring.
-
